Glen V. Wheeler, age 88 of Columbus, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014. Glen was born October 19, 1925 in Vincennes, Indiana, son of the late James and Elsie Wheeler. Also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Evelyn Ruth Grove and 8 siblings. Glen was the former minister at North Park Church of Christ, Columbus and was a current member of Worthington Christian Church. He had ministries in Morristown and Harriman, Tennessee, West Frankfort, Illinois, and Ironton and Columbus, Ohio. He served as President of The Restoration House Stewardship Ministry, Executive Director of the Ohio Church Development Fund and Chaplain at Worthington Christian Village for 12 years. Glen was also a member of several professional organizations. Among his many recognitions and honors, Johnson University conferred an honorary Doctorate Degree for his twenty years of service as a Trustee, recognized by the North American Christian Convention and National Missionary Conventions for his lifelong ministry by naming him an Honored Servant of God. Glen was also inducted into three Senior Halls of Fame including the Ohio Senior Hall of Fame in 2001. His inspirational tribute to his wife, "Hold Onto Your Fork," has been widely used. In addition, Glen also authored eight books and two computer disks. He passionately loved the Lord and the work of the ministry. He adored his wife, loved his family, and was known for his sense of humor. In 2013 he observed sixty nine years of his ordained ministry. He will be greatly missed by his family, Judie Fugitt, David (Cathy) and Dennis (Sharon) Wheeler; 4 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Alice (Coleman) Archer; and many other extended family members and dear friends. Funeral services will be held at 7 P.M. Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Worthington Christian Church, 8145 N. High St., where family will receive friends from 5 P.M. until time of service. Additionally, family will also receive friends from 4-7 P.M. Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. 7th St., Ironton, Ohio and from 10-11 A.M. Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Central Christian Church, 1541 S. 7th St., Ironton where funeral services will begin at 11 A.M. Thursday. Interment to follow at Woodland Cemetery, Ironton, Ohio.
