HUMPHREYS, EDWIN ROBERT - age 73, a resident of Oliver Springs, and formerly of Kingston, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2003 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Mr. Humphreys was born September 20, 1930 in Roane County. He was a lifelong resident of Roane and Anderson Counties. He was preceded in death by his parents, Taylor Blair Humphreys and Roberta Walker Humphreys; by two brothers, Gwain and Merle Humphreys and by an infant sister. He was retired from O.R.N.L. at the X-10 Plant as a fire inspector. He was a member of local labor union #818 and the Atomic Trades and Labor Council. Mr. Humphreys was a member of the Salem Baptist Church and he attended the Oliver Springs United Methodist Church. He was a 32nd Degree Master Mason and a member of the Paint Rock Masonic Lodge #367 F&AM. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Kerbella Temple of Knoxville. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 2, 2004 at 8 p.m. in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Clowers and Rev. Bobby Burton officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, between the hours of 6-8 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. Burial and graveside services will be held Saturday January 3, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Anderson Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association. In addition the family would like to thank the staff at Mariner Health of Norris for the loving care given to Mr. Humphreys during his illness. Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
