Charlotte Wardlaw, eldest daughter of William Clarke Wardlaw and the former Miss Mary Josephine Thompson.

She graduated with first honors from Augusta High School, 1885. Charlotte, along with her other single sisters, Sallie and Eliza, became town missionaries in Augusta, Georgia She also raised her youngest sister, Harriet Wardlaw, after her parents died.

Charlotte, a lifetime resident of Augusta, Georgia never married.
