Roland Eugene Hawk (Rod) of Chatham passed away at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL, on Monday, February 24, 2014 at 89 years of age.
Roland was born December 11, 1924, the third son of Virgel A. Hawk and Leva Ann Whiteside. He graduated from Tri-City High School. He married Addalein Beaver on January 7, 1959. He worked for Henry Nelch & Son Co. for 43 years.

Rod was an avid hunter and sportsman. He belonged to Shriners, Carlock Masonic Lodge # 904 (life member), Teamsters 916, St. Andrews Society, National Rifle Association (life member).

Survivors: wife, Addalein Hawk; three daughters, Connie Hawk, Dr. Patricia Schechter (Robert), Sue Ridgley (Dyke W.); four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, one cousin, a sister-in-law and a brother-in-law. He also leaves his faithful friend, Toby.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: John William, Virgel Aden Jr., and Garry Lee Hawk.

Visitation: 5-7 pm, Friday, February 28, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: 11 am, Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home, 1109 South 5th Street, Springfield, IL, with Pastor Curt Daniels of Faith Bible Church officiating. Burial will follow at Long Point Cemetery in Niantic.
