Mike was born on April 7, 1946 to George C. and Mary Jane Dickinson Bird. He grew up in Circleville and graduated from Piute High School in 1964. He joined the Navy soon after graduation. In 1967 he married Josie Torres in Grants, New Mexico. He lived in New Mexico as a family man and a miner raising Josie's 8 children, and two of their own. He and Josie eventually divorced. In 1992 he married Mary Evans Brown in Las Vegas, Nevada. She passed away in 2001. Mike also lived in Fredonia, Arizona, and Magill, Nevada where he continued to mine. Eventually he was hired as a Prison guard in Magill, until he finally retired with silicosis from mining. On June 8, 2012 he married Sharon Smith in Junction, Utah, and they spend his last years happily in Circleville together.
Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating. He loved his horses and pets. He enjoyed riding his razor, being in the outdoors, and having fun with his many loved ones. He will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him, and his lust for life.
Mike is survived by his wife Sharon Bird of Circleville; his daughter Mary Jane and Dave Pounders of Albuquerque, New Mexico; his siblings: Barbra Bird of Richfield; Steve and Pauline Bird of Circleville; Tom and Helen Bird of Central Valley; Becky Delbridge of McCammon Idaho; Pamela and Todd O'Neal of Elsinore; Georgia and Ronnie of Aurora; 3 grandchildren: Makayla, Megan, and Mathias Pounders; many stepchildren including: Chris Dwillis; Stacy Burt; Erin Beene; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was proceeded in death by his parents George C. and Mary Jane Dickinson Bird; his ex-wive Josie Torres; his wife Mary Evans Brown Bird; his treasured son Michael Bird; his brother-in-law Sterling Delbridge; his nephews: Robert Lund; George Bird; Flint Lund.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 22, 2014 in the Circleville Community Center, 210 South Center Street, Circleville, Utah.
Burial in the Circleville Cemetery with military rights accorded by the Circleville American Legion are under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
