WEBER CITY, Va. Mr. Hobert Mares Gabby Butler, 80, Weber City, Va., passed away, Saturday (March 8, 2008) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

Mr. Butler was born in Scott County, Va. on April 5, 1927, a son of the late Mack and Millie Frazier Butler.

He was a born again believer who loved the Lord and served him.

He retired from T.J. Box, formerly Cantley-Ellis as a carpenter with thirty plus years of service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alpha on Feb. 9, 1985; son, Alferd Butler, March 10, 2005; and daughter, Lena, Aug. 30, 2007, and husband, Michael Butler on Dec. 18, 2007; sisters, Pauline Ramey, Epplee Falin and Vernie Mae Owens; and one brother, M.B. Butler.

For our Dad, who will always be remembered for his sweet love and kind heart, we will keep you forever, angel in our hearts. We love you Gabby.

Surviving are his daughters and sons-in-law, Reda Falin and husband, Robert, Cathy Butler, Lesa Falin and husband, Mark, and Loreda Kerns and husband, Junior, all of Clinchport, Va.; sons and daughters-in-law, Alvin Butler and wife, Joreta, Rev. Gennis Butler and wife, Polly, Calvin Butler and Mares Butler, all of Kingsport; several special grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Laura and Jamie; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Gate City Funeral Home, and other times at the residence of his daughter, Reda.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Lonnie Townsend officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 12 p.m. Tuesday at the Page Cemetery in the Robinette Valley community of Scott County.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family will be meeting at the cemetery for the graveside service.
