Big Stone Gap, VA - Laura Agnes Buchanan, 95, passed away on Tuesday (July 9, 2013) at Heritage Hall Healthcare in Big Stone Gap.
She was born in Hancock County, TN and lived most of her life in Big Stone Gap. She worked for the former Highland Restaurant in Big Stone Gap. She was of Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Marvin K. "Jack" Buchanan; her parents, Milam and Mellie (Frazier) Butler; sisters, Epylee Falin, Pauline Ramey and Verna Owens; and two brothers, Hobert Butler and M. B. Butler.
Surviving are her daughter, Faye Thompson and husband, Gary of Big Stone Gap; grandchildren, Christy Lovell and husband Jon, Gary Lynn Thompson, Jr. and Jared Thompson, all of Big Stone Gap and Courtney Thompson of Norton, VA; three great grandchildren, Sierra Hicks, Emily Lovell and Jeremy Lovell; sister, Jamie Massengill of Eidson, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Holding Funeral Home (17 E. 3rd St., N.) in Big Stone Gap.
The funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Don Lambert officiating.
Committal services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Riverview Cemetery in East Stone Gap, VA with Pastor Roger Jenkins officiating. The family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. on Saturday to go in procession.
