In 1900, Florence Rohde, aged 20, a school teacher, was living at 249 Main Avenue in Bergen, New Jersey, in the home of her parents, Freeman J. Rohde, aged 44, and Hannah Rohde, aged 44, with her brother, Charles F. Rohde, aged 17, an entry clerk for a tin plate company. Her father was shown to be a bookkeeper for a newspaper.
In 1920, Florence Gwynne, aged 40, was living on Beaver Dam Road, Brookhaven NY, in the home of her mother, Hannah Rohde, aged 64.
In 1930, Florence Gwynne, aged 50, widowed, a bookkeeper for a grain dealer, was living at 97 Beaver Dam Road, Brookhaven, NY, in the home of her widowed mother, Hannah Rohde, aged 74, with her children, William T. Gwynne, aged 20, a nurseryman for a plant and shrub nursery, and Marjorie Gwynne, aged 18, a stenographer for a truck company.
Obituary - Brookhaven - Mrs. Florence Gwynne of Beaver Dam Road, Brookhaven, former organist here at St. James Episcopal Church and former librarian at Brookhaven Library, died Monday at South Shore Convalescent Home, Patchogue, after an extended illness.
Born 73 years ago in New York City, Mrs. Gwynne had resided in this vicinity for the past 36 years. She was the widow of the late William L. Gwynne who perished when the Titanic went down on her maiden voyage in 1912. Mrs. Gwynne was a member of the Fireplace Literary Club of Brookhaven.
Her body will repose at the Pettit Funeral Home, Patchogue, until 2 p.m. today, when funeral services will be conducted in St. James Episcopal Church, Brookhaven, with the Rev. Frederick Chapman officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, Brookhaven.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Albert Brown of Patchogue; a son, William Thurston Gwynne of Brookhaven and one grandchild.
