Funeral services for William Henry Nellen, 93, were conducted at 9 a.m. Thursday, June 29, 1989 at the Vase Funeral Chapel.

The Rock Springs Masonic Lodge AF and AM conducted the services. Graveside funeral services and interment were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 29, 1989 at the Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy, Utah.

Nellen, of 1640 Dewar Drive, No. 138, Rock Springs, died at 8:16 p.m. Monday, June 26, 1989 at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County where he had been a patient since June 24.

A resident of Rock Springs since 1980 and former longtime resident of LaBarge, Nellen died following a lengthy illness. He was born in Sidney, Neb., on Sept. 6, 1895, the son of the late Jacob and Carolyn Mahr Nellen.

He attended schools in Sidney, and married the former Violet Marie Gogel in Parco on Dec. 30, 1919. She preceded him in death on April 16, 1987.

Nellen was a U.S. Army veteran of World War I and a retired Field Superintendent of the Texaco Oil Company. He was a member of the Big Piney Masonic Lodge NO. 47, the order of Eastern Star, charter member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge and a member of the Wyoming Petroleum Institute.

Survivors include two sons, William G. Nellen and Glenn L. Nellen, both of Rock Springs; one daughter, Kathleen Keeney of Casper; one sister, Mrs. Dee (rose) Keefe of Rock Springs; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Nellen was preceded in death by one stepson, Raymond Alton; one daughter who died in infancy; two brothers, Fred and Nick Nellen; five sisters, Kate, Nell, Ada, Ann and Josie.
