ROSE NELLEN KEEFE

A Mass of Christian burial for Rose Nellen Keefe was celebrated Monday, Jan. 29, at the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Father Charles Taylor officiated. A vigil service with rosary was celebrated Sunday, Jan. 28, at the Vase Funeral Chapel. Graveside funeral services and interment were conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29 at the Aultorest Memorial Park in Ogden, Utah. Father John Kokal of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church officiated.

Mrs. Keefe, 90, of 817 Massachusetts Ave., Rock Springs, died at 1 a.m. Wednesday Jan. 24, 1990 at the Sage View Care Center.

A longtime resident of Rock Springs, Mrs. Keefe had been in ill health since September 1988. She was born in Sidney, Neb., June 12, 1899, the daughter of the late Jacob and Carline Maher Nellen. She attended schools in Bitter Creek, and married Leonard Kiehm in Ogden, Utah, April 4, 1918. He preceded her in death in July 1947. She later married DeWitt Keefe in Rock Springs, July 3, 1953 and he preceded her in death in February of 1975.

Mrs. Keefe ran a cook house in Hiawatha and she was a retired nurse's aide having worked for the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County.

She was a member of the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, the VFW Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Neighbors of Woodcraft.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Mrs. Keefe was preceded in death by three brothers, Nick, Fred and Bill Nellen; four sisters, Nell Hock, Anne Madden, Kate Lavoni and Ada Conley.
