He was born Aug. 6, 1927, to Edward and Minnie (nee Kamm) Langan at Platte Center and graduated from St. Bonaventure High School in 1946, having starred in four sports.
He served in the U.S. Army Infantry from Sept. 6, 1946, to Dec. 22, 1947, during the post-war occupation of Japan and earned the rank of sergeant.
Following his discharge, he returned to Columbus where he began a 38-year career with the Nebraska Public Power District, retiring as general substation supervisor in Norfolk in August 1990.
He married Rose Mary Keller on May 24, 1952, at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, Columbus. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on May 24, 2007.
He was a member of the Norfolk Country Club, American Legion and a lifetime member of the VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Mary; brother, Donald Langan of Grand Island; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arnold "Buster" Langan, Harvey Langan, Alvin Langan, Jack Langan; sisters, Martha Langan Rogan, Delores "Dody" Langan Lachnit.
