"Daniel received his education in American Fork, then at Brigham Young Academy in Provo. He then went to Sevier County where he was superintendent of schools. He worked as a bookkeeper for John W. Young who was building a railroad to Park City. He went to Ann Arbor, Mich. and studied to be a lawyer. He then came back to Salt Lake & practiced law until he was elected city judge in 1928. He held this position until 1936."
