Son of Philip J. and Cynthia (Eoff) Prater, Aaron first marriage to "UNKNOWN" about 1838 probably in Rutherford county, Tennessee, resulted in two known children, Philip J. and Thomas Nelson Prater. Aaron's first wife died about 1843. Aaron married second, Mary Ann Rawlings Fulks, widow of John Daniel Fulks, on the 8th of March 1845 in Rutherford county, Tennessee. Aaron and Mary Ann Prater are enumerated in the 1850 US federal census, living in Missouri Township of Clark county, Arkansas and living with them are three of Mary's children by her first marriage, Archibald, Pinckney, and Joel B. Fulks. Aaron has left his two boys in Rutherford county, Tennessee, living with his sister, Susan and her husband Nelson Green. Aaron's sons have joined him in Clark county, Arkansas by the 1860 US federal census.
