Elveton was the son of George Harvey LeMay & Eliza Puckett LeMay. He married Pearl, the daughter of Thomas & Lizzie Preston Lemay, on October 19, 1901 in Garrard County, Kentucky. The couple were the parents of Cecil, Fred, Johnnie Elmo, Grace, Lucille, Burnett and Merle LeMay. Mr. LeMay intially supported his family by farming. During the depression, crop prices bottomed out and many of the men of Garrard County, Elveton included, left for Indiana to pursue work in the factories there.
Note: In one record, he was referred to as Doolin LeMay and in newspaper articles as Dule LeMay. It is unclear whether this was his middle name or just a nickname.
