11 NOV 2021, Notes for incoming transfer, sighted; added gender. 1) Bio section as written by the original creator of the memorial has been retained, and is below the divider. ~ Funeral services for Lorene "Brownie" Brown, 99 of Pryor will be held on Saturday, Feb 22, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the North Elliott Church of God in Pryor. Rev. Kendall Sheats and Rev. Joe Armbrister will officiate with burial following at Bryan Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 6-8 PM. Services are under the direction of Key Funeral Home in Pryor.

Lorene was born on Feb 10, 1915 in Big Cabin to Charles Edward and Mary Elizabeth (Blackwell) Frields. She passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 in Claremore at the age of 99.

Lorene and her family moved to Pryor in 1930 where she attended the Greenbrier School until the age of 15. She was married to Gaylord Norman and he later died in 1942. He was buried the day before the Pryor tornado.

She later married Gilbert Brown in 1945 and they made their home in Pryor. She was a homemaker for most of her life. She was instrumental in helping start the Home Demonstration Club in the Osage area in the 1950's.

Later in life, she took her talent and love of cooking to Shady Rest Nursing Home where she worked as a cook for 17 years.

Lorene attended the North Elliott Church of God in Pryor. She was a very family oriented person who loved taking care of her kids and grandkids; any opportunity to spend time with them was always a top priority. She was loved, admired and appreciated by them all and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her 5 children Walter Norman and wife Betty of Hillsboro, KS, Elizabeth Armbrister and husband Wayne of Falke, AR, Jean Sheats of Claremore, Sue Kelly and husband Ed Friedman of Murrels Inlet, SC and Mary Kelley and husband Lawrence Clifton Kelley of Pryor; 24 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren also several nieces, nephews and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters, daughter Jane Foster and son-in-law Gerald Sheats
