Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer, Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois, Monday, January 18, 1932, page 1:
  Mrs. Mary Jane Butler, resident of Worden, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Boyd Dubree in Gillespie Saturday night. Death was caused by complications. She was 77 years of age.
  Mrs. Butler was born Jan. 1, 1855, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Piper, on a farm near Worden. She was twice married, both of her husbands preceded her in death. They were George Sandbach and Henry Butler.
  Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Belva Meade, Mrs. Sue Gale, Mrs. Mayme Gale of Gorham, Ill., Mrs. Lydia Dubree of Gillespie; three sons: Silas and Frank Butler of Gorham, Ill., and Oliver Butler of Staunton; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Kate Bond of Staunton; one sister, Mrs. T.C. Unger of Worden; three brothers, James Piper of Spokane, Wash., Charles W. Piper of Worden and Joe West of Frankfort; 35 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
  The body is being held at the home of Oliver Butler in Staunton. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Worden Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Mosher of Staunton officiating. Interment will be in the New Hope Cemetery at Worden.

Pallbearers were Clarence Piper, Oliver Piper of Edwardsville; David Piper of West Frankfort; Ora McMullen, Chester Piper and Louis F. Albrecht of Worden.
