In 1770, William is living at Quaker Meadows (between Johns River and Linville River north of the Catawba River). In 1778, he acquired land in Burke (Rowan) Co., North Carolina which is adjacent to Lincoln Co where the Gullicks lived.

In this part of Burke Co., most of the Quakers became Baptists. Hence, William was in the Battle of King's Mountain where he died. Son Ezekial was gravely injured and later died of his wounds.

Source of death date was from son Enoch's Pension Application # 8128, dated 3 Oct 1832.

William and Elizabeth Montgomery were married abt 1752 in Maryland.
