NORTH GROSVENORDALE - Raymond M. Robillard, 84 of Riverside Drive, died Thursday morning at Hubbard Hospital's Transitional Care Unit, Webster, MA, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on May 25, 1918, in New Bedford, MA, a son of the late Oliver and Judith (Legere) Robillard. Mr. Robillard was the beloved husband of Doris (Tellier) Robillard, whom he married on May 21, 1960, in Saint Joseph Church, North Grosvenordale.
Mr. Robillard was the former owner of Ray the Cleaner, and after retirement he took a job with the Webster Times and Auburn News in the circulation departments.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific, and was Honorably discharged on November 16, 1945. Mr. Robillard was the recipient of a BRONZE STAR for his service to his country.
He was a communicant of Saint Joseph Church, North Grosvenordale. Mr. Robillard was a very social man holding life memberships in the Vietnam and Foreign Wars, Post 1523 in Putnam, the American Legion, Post 67 in Grosvenordale and the Putnam Lodge of Elks #574, where he was a 50 year member. An avid golfer, he was also a member of the Vineyard Valley Golf Club, Pomfret.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 1 daughter and 1 son; 1 brother, Oscar Robillard of Greenwich, CT and 2 special grandchildren. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Henry and Albert Robillard.
The funeral will assemble on Monday at 9:45 a.m. at the Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main Street, North Grosvenordale and proceed to a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in Saint Joseph Church, 18 Main Street, North Grosvenordale. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
