Aaron was the son of Philip and Susannah (Hubbard) Prater, born in Pendleton District, now Anderson county, South Carolina. He married 1st, Susan Smith about 1811 in South Carolina. Based on census records, Aaron and Susan had at least seven children, 4 females and 3 males. Aaron and his family, as well as, two of his brothers, Joseph & Josiah moved to Hall county, Georgia sometime after 1826. After Susan's death in 1851, Aaron married Elizabeth Williams on the 15th of January 1854 in Hall county, Georgia. Elizabeth was about 42 years of age, born about 1812 in South Carolina, when she married Aaron. No known children were born of this union. Aaron died sometime between the 3rd of September 1874, the date his Will was executed and signed and the 17th of December 1874, the date his Will was proved in Court. No children or other family members were mentioned in his Will, except for his second wife Elizabeth, whom he said " I have lived in the strictest quiet for about twenty years" (1854-1874). It is currently unknown where Aaron is buried, however, he directed in his Will that "my body be buried in a decent manner suitable to my circumstances and condition in life". He MAY be buried next to his first wife, Susan, in Dahlonega, Lumpkin county, Georgia.
