Obituary
Mrs Mary Potter was a daughter of the late Capt John Rice of Annapolis. She was united in marriage to the late Reverend Israel Potter above 60 years ago. About the year 1790, they removed to Lower Granville. Soon after this she was baptized, and united with the Baptist Church under the pastoral care of the late Reverend James Manning. Upon the demise of the late Joseph Potter, they removed to Clements. About the year 1810, the Church of Clements was organized with which she united, and with which she continued through life. One of her sons, Reverend Israel Porter is the pastor of the Clements Church, 1 if not 2 or more, are deacons of that church, and a daughter is the consort of Reverend JB Cogswell. Her remains were interred on Sunday, the 11th in the Baptist burying ground at Goat Island by the side of her late husband, Reverend Shepherd officiated. She was 81 years old.
