Rosary for Jim Alba, 81, of Slaton will be at 7:30 p.m. today in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the same church with the Rev. Lawrence Hemp, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Idalou Cemetery under direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
Alba died Monday, Sept. 21, 1998, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 29, 1916, in Elgin. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He married Susie Vasquez on April 1, 1946, in Elgin. They moved to Slaton in 1948. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, and he worked with W.D. Turner Construction in Lubbock until retiring in 1976. A daughter, Linda Olivarez, died in 1992.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jim of Lubbock; a daughter, Frances Gatica of Slaton; two sisters, Maria Alba of Houston and Pina Hernandez of Houston; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
