Mrs. Simon, age 89 was born to the union of the late Monroe Anderson and the late Lena Victorian Clophus on October 30, 1924 in Basile, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (Dominic Simon); three brothers; Linton, Murphy, and Lindsey Clophus; five sisters Ester Ardoin, Amelia Pitre, Hazel Joubert, Nola Clophus, and Eva Sam.
She was employed as a cashier at Clophus Grocery Store in Eunice, Louisiana for many years as well as a seamstress in the community. In 1972 she moved to Houston, Texas where she became a member of St. Benedict the Abbot Catholic Church. For sixty (60) years she was a dedicated member the Knights of Peter Claver, Ladies of Auxiliary, St. Mathilda Court #92 in Eunice and St. Benedict Court #248 in Houston. She was employed by J.C. Penny as a supervisor in the Custom Drapery Department for many years until her retirement. Upon retirement she continued to be a seamstress sewing for her family and friends within the Brentwood community.
Sharing a void in their lives, but left to cherish her memories are three sons, Felicien (Hazel) Simon of Eunice, LA, Peter (Gloria) Simon of Missouri City, TX and Joseph (Norma) Simon of Murrieta, CA; two daughters, Rozelia Simon Spikes of Houston, TX and Linda (Herman) Kelly of Baton Rouge, LA. She has 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor, Saturday February 15, 2014 at Saint Benedict the Abbot Catholic Church, 4025 Grapevine, Houston, TX 77045 - Father Huy Q. Dinh, C.S.Sp, Pastor. Services are as follows:
