Harold Eugene Mitchell, the son of Glen E. and Daisy (Chaplin) Mitchell was born March 19, 1920 at Inavale, Nebraska. Harold departed this life on Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Mary Lanning HeaalthCare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Harold attended school at Inavale, Nebraska and graduated there. The family moved to Wenatchee, Washington in 1936 where he met Alma Lee Ferguson and they married on April 22, 1939. Harold and Alma Lee moved back to Nebraska to farm with his grandfather in 1943. While on the farm Harold enjoyed raising his livestock including, both pigs and cattle.

Besides farming; Harold held a variety of different jobs including: working as a lineman for the telephone company; was employed by Culligan Water; set up machinery for Ely International; had been employed by Red Cloud (NE.) Schools; the Red Cloud (NE.) Police Deptartment, Red Cloud (NE.) Housing; worked part time for the City of Red Cloud, Nebraska and the Webster County (NE.) Museum. Harold was always willing to help anyone in need.

Harold and Alma Lee moved to Hastings, Nebraska to the Perkins Pavilion arGood Samaritan Village and later to the Harvard (NE.) Rest Haven do to failing health and be nearer to their family.

Harold is preceded in death by: parents, brothers, Archie, Vernon and Leonard and sister, Isabelle.

Survivors are: wife, Alma Lee Mitchell of Harvard, Nebraska; children: Marilyn Vandersloot of Hardin, Montana, Carolyn (Corky) Luth of Hastings, Nebraska and Leland (Dusty) Mitchell and wife Vivian of Hastings, Nebraska; brother, Glen Mitchell, Jr of Ellensburg, Washington; sister, Marcella Brown of Richland, Washington; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services were Friday, February 14, 2014 at 10:30 AM February 14, 2014 at Congregational Church, Red Cloud, Nebraska. Pastor Marshall Faulkenberry was officiator.

Burial was in Red Cloud Cemetery, Red Cloud, Nebraska.
