He was born Folkert Porte in April 1886 in the country village of Oosterbierum, located in the extreme western part of the Dutch northern province Friesland, son of the 37 years old laborer Jacob Porte and Trijntje Knol.

Folkert had the following siblings:
* Antje, 31 July 1869, Hallum;
* Gerben, 12 March 1871, Hallum;
* Jultje, 11 December 1874, Hallum;
* Klaas 17 September 1878, Hallum;
* Jochum, 16 July 1881, Oosterbierum, municipality Barradeel, province Friesland;
* Folkert, 28 February 1885, Oosterbierum, died 8 May 1885, Oosterbierum;
* Stillborn sister, 26 February 1890, Oosterbierum.

In April 1890 his oldest brother Germen Porte (18 years old, farmer) arrived alone, without relatives on the S.S. Rotterdam at the port of New York, Castle Garden. His sisters Antje (21) and Jultje (17) arrived on November 3, 1890 on the S.S. Rotterdam, heading for the Dutch settlement Roseland, nowadays a southern district of Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.

On May 7, 1891 Folkert (4), his father Jacob Porte (40, laborer), his mother Trijntje (42) and his brothers Klaas (11) and Jochem (9) arrived on the S.S. Spaarndam at the port of New York, Castle Garden.

In June 1900 Folkert Porte (14 years old, April 1886, Netherlands, peddler of vegetables), his father Jacob Porte (51, born in January 1849 in the Netherlands, laborer at RR [RailRoad] shops) and his mother Trientje (52, September 1848, Netherlands, mother of 5 living children) lived at a rented home at West 106 Street in the southern Ward 34 of Chicago, Calumet Township, Cook County, Illinois.

In January 1920 Frank J Porte (33, immigrated in 1890 [has to be: 1891], machinist at a factory), his wife Cornelia (30, Indiana), their children Suzie (8, Illinois), Jacob (6, Indiana), Anthony (4, Indiana) and Clarence (0, Indiana) were living in a rented house at 2002 Worden Street in Ward 1 of the city of La Porte, seat of La Porte County, located in the northwestern part of Indiana, immediately southeast of Lake Michigan.

In May 1930 Frank Porte (43, immigrated in 1891, truck driver at a laundry company), his wife Cornelia (41), their children Susan (18, candy wrapper), Jacob (17), Anthony (14), Clarence (11) and Francis (6, Indiana) were living in a rented house at White Oak Avenue in Munster, North Township, Lake County, Indiana.

In April 1940 Frank Porte (54, watchman at an oil refinery), his wife Cornelia (51), their children Jacob (27, automobile finisher), Anthony (24, laborer at a steel mill) and Frances (16) were living in a rented house in still Munster, North Township, Lake County, Indiana. They lived in 1935 at the same place.

Watchman Frank Porte died in June 1949 at the age of 63 years in the village of Lansing, located immediately west of Munster, Cook County, Illinois. His widow Cornelia died there too, in June 1975, at the age of 86 years.
