She was born April 12, 1918, at Peters Run, near Lumberport, a daughter of the late Francis W. and Jessie Morrison Swiger.
She is survived by her husband, Robert M. Sayre, whom she married in May 1974. She and Robert were married by Dr. Joe Debardi at the First United Methodist Church in Clarksburg and they still remain members of this church. She was formerly married to Gail Griffin of Athens, Ohio, who preceded her in death.
She is also survived by two stepchildren, Robert E. Sayre and Peggy Lynn Sayre Siders; three stepgrandchildren, Katy Gray, Chelsea Wilkinson and Nathanial Siders and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and twin sister, she was preceded in death by a nephew, Larry Heldreth.
Marjorie was baptized at Ten Mile Baptist Church at the age of 12 with her twin sister, Marjory Swiger, who preceded her in death September 6, 2003. She graduated from Lumberport High School, Class of 1936, and attended Fairmont State College with her twin sister, Marjory.
She was employed as a seamstress by the Palace Furniture Company for 36 years, with Rady and Deem for six years and Stone & Thomas Department Store for 13 years prior to her retirement in 1999.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport, from 1–3 p.m. and 6–8 p.m. on Sunday, and from 11 a.m–1 p.m. on Monday. Services will be held at 1 p.m. at the funeral home on Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, with Reverend Rick Sale presiding. Interment will follow in Lumberport Lions Cemetery.
