He was born in Raywood, Pocahontas County in 1918 and was the second child of the late Earl H. and Alice J Buchanan-Propst of Canyon Community, Morgantown.
He retired after 42 years of working in the Coal Mines, first working in the Canyon Coal Mines and then Humphrey Mine. He was a WW II Veteran.
He is survived by two children, David and Dr. Lois Rebecca Propst and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Laura Lee Penrod-Propst, his brother Earl Jr. in 1944, his brother Bill in 1975 and two sisters Josie Tanton and Alice Burrow.
