Catherine Allan Dent Brantley went to dwell in the house of the Lord forever on February 6, 2014. Catherine was born May 12, 1937 in Jacksonville, Florida, daughter of Stuart Hubert and Attala Walker Dent.

After attending local schools, she attended St. Mary's School and College in Raleigh, NC. She was a communicant of St. Catherine's Episcopal Church where she served on the Vestry several times.

She was predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Senator Lewis B. Brantley. She is survived by her children Robert C. Wulbern (Sharon), Allan E. Wulbern (Fran), Richard L. Brantley, Karen B. Akins (David) Linda B. Chapman (Sid) and grandchildren Walker and Alex Wulbern, Jack and Sims Wulbern, Bronson Brantley (Lindy), Lauren and Benjamin Akins, Tiffany, Michael and Steven Chapman, great-grand children Ashlyn, Hailey and Lauren Brantley and Hunter Chapman, sisters Betsy Miller (Gunnar) and Mary-Stuart Pratt (Jim) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Catherine was a member of the Junior League of Jacksonville. She was President of the Episcopal Church Women, Diocese of Florida 1981-83. She was a delegate to the Diocese of Florida Convention several times and an appointed member of the Diocesan Council River Region, West. She was an Honorary member of the Rotary Club of West Jacksonville, a Paul Harris Fellow and past treasurer of the Inner Wheel Club of West Jacksonville Rotary. She was a RSVP Tale Teller for five year old kindergartners at Central Riverside Elementary School for several years. She also was a board member of daniel Properties, Inc.

As was his wish, after her husband's death, Catherine established the Lewis B. And Catherine D. Brantley endowed scholarship at the University of North Florida for students, both merit and need, from Northeast Florida.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, Feb. 12th at St. Catherine's Episcopal Church, 4758 Shelby Avenue, Jacksonville, Florida, with interment to follow at 4 pm at Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd. Jax. Fl 32207. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the Lewis B. and Catherine D. Brantley Scholarship Fund at the University of North Florida, daniel Foundation or St. Catherine's Episcopal Church. Service arrangements have been entrusted to Hardage-Giddens 729 S. Edgewood Ave, Jacksonville, Fl. 32205.
