ANGELICA - Louise Ross, 80, of 73 East Main St., passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday (Jan. 31, 2014), at Olean General Hospital.
Born in Friendship, April 12, 1933, a daughter of Albert and Ella (Perry) Lamb. She was married to James Alphonzo Ross on Feb. 22, 1957, and he predeceased her on Nov. 21, 1987.
She was a graduate of Friendship Central School "Class of 1952," and was a dedicated resident of Angelica since 1957.
Louise had worked for the former Perry Knitting Mill in Fillmore, the Allegany County BOCES in the special education department, and retired from the former Angelica Central School as a teacher's aide.
She was a member of the Angelica United Methodist Church, where she participated in numerous activities, the Angelica Booster Citizens, Chamelot Choraleers, Crafty Belles, Angelica Legion Auxiliary, the Balcom Beach card club of Rushford Lake, and was a Bluebird leader.
Louise was known for generosity and caring nature, making pies for whomever asked, providing stamps for grieving families, and volunteering many hours of her time for various community activities. She enjoyed pie making, bowling, crafting, basketball - especially Syracuse, visiting the casino, dining with her friends in Angelica and Belfast, and faithfully visiting her friends in local nursing homes.
She is survived by her two daughters, Terri Ross of Angelica, Sharon (Alan) Presutti of Angelica; two grandchildren, Alexander James Ross Presutti of Rochester, Karleigh Theresa Presutti of Angelica; three sisters, Irene Henning of Pennsylvania, Beverly (Joe) Coddington of Tennessee, Connie (Wayne) West of Little Genesee; a brother, Donald (Joy) Lamb of Cuba; sister-in-law, Mary Lamb of Allegany; and many much-loved nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was predeceased by her parents; two sisters, Grace Spangler and Elsie Chadderon; her brother, Ronald Lamb; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Bruce Spangler, Scott Henning, Nancy Ross Hooker, and Donald and Shirley Ross.
Burial will be in Until the Day Dawn Cemetery in Angelica.
Friends may make memorial contributions to Angelica Boosters, Angelica Fire Department, or the Angelica Library.
