Ramona Mae Bennett was born April 20, 1933, the daughter of Walter and Elsie (Barnhill) Pettyjohn. Ramona was the 12th child of 16 in her family, born and raised in Marysville, Iowa. On September 2, 1950 she was united in marriage to Leslie Robert Bennett and celebrated 62 wonderful years together.
Ramona was a member of the Harvey United Methodist Church. She had a love for cooking, baking and crocheting . She loved her many flower gardens and garage sales in the spring and summer. She and Leslie shared the love of bowling and participated in many leagues thru the years.
Ramona passed away on February 6, 2014 at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House at the age of 80. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Bennett, her grandson, Joe Ball, her parents, 4 brothers and 8 sisters.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Pamela Bennett of Harvey, Robert Bennett of Harvey, Dianna Guzman of Pella and Darrell (Debbie) Bennett of Knoxville; brothers Malcom "Buddy" (Thelma) Bennett of Oskaloosa, Lowell "Crow" Bennett of Knoxville, and sister Verna (Donald) Means of Milan, IL; brothers-in-laws Donald (Shirley) Bennett of Melcher and Roger (Marty) Bennett of Omaha; grandchildren, Scott Starmer, Brenda Moss, Shawn Agan, Andy Bennett, Cory Vanderveer, Abby Helmon, Shelly Wenzel, Bobbie Doty, James Bennett, Aaron Vanderheiden and BenVanderheiden; 21 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
