MECHANICSBURG - Gerald E. Wagley, 73, of Mechanicsburg and recently of Blain and formerly Florida, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2014 in the Harrisburg Hospital.
Gerald was born January 27, 1941 in Bremen, Indiana to the late Harold C. and Dollie I. (Whittaker) Wagley. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Marie Wagley and a son, Rev. Kevin Scott.
He was a Vietnam Navy veteran.
He retired from the Navy Depot, Mechanicsburg and later was employed at the Holy Spirit Hospital.
He was a life member of VFW Post 4252 in Hernado, FL. and American Legion Headquarters 945 in PA.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara A. (Shelley) Wagley, daughters, Lauren Deiter and her husband Paul and son Bryce of Jonestown, Rebecca Weibley, Beth A. Henry, Caroline E. Parson, Cathy L. Wallace, a sister, Marcia Gall, Ocala, FL., 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, February 22, 2014 in the Nickel Funeral Home, 3626 Shermans Valley Road, Loysville, PA 17047 with the Rev. John S. Kipp officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service in the funeral home. Burial with military honors by New Bloomfield VFW Post 7463 and Newport VFW Post 34 will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery, Shermans Dale at 3:15 PM following the service. Fellowship will follow in the Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church fellowship room.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 745 West Governor Road, Hershey, PA 17033.
