U.S. Congressman. Born near Mansfield, Connecticut, he completed an academic course law, was admitted to the bar and opened a legal practice in Newark, Ohio. He was appointed by the Governor a commissioner to settle the boundary dispute between Ohio and Michigan, plus served as a Brigadier General in the Ohio State Militia. He also was a member of the Ohio State House of Representatives, (1831-33) and served in the Ohio State Senate, (1833-36). In 1839, he was elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-sixth Congress, serving until 1841. He died at the age of 61 in Newark, Ohio.
