He was an Oblate of the Olivetan Benedictine Order. Most importantly, "Big Mike" fed, clothed, educated, and cared for many of the 230 HIV+ children of Sarnelli House, a Redemptionist orphanage located in northeast Thailand founded by Big Mike's good friend, Father Michael Shea.
