William Neil Johnson was born Monday, September 27, 1926 Forsyth, MO, to Edward and Aletha Johnson. He attended the Riverview School in Forsyth. He worked out west harvesting grain. He then entered the U.S. Army, in 1945 and served as a Military policeman with Company B 51st MP Battalion. He was honorably discharged in 1946 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal Japan, and the Good Conduct Medal. After his military service, he moved back to Taney County and he met Arlene Blansit in 1946. They were married March 13, 1948 in Harrison, AR. Neil joined the Brick Layers Union as an apprentice and worked for various contractors. He then owned his own contracting business. He helped build many schools, churches and local buildings. Neil and Arlene have lived in Taney County their whole lives.
His greatest passion was raising cattle, hunting, fishing, trapping and gun shows. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Brick Layers BAC Local 15 and was of the protestant faith.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene; a step son, Jim Wade and wife, Mary Alice; a step daughter, Barbara Reed and husband, Harold; special nephew, Mark Johnson and wife, Evelyn; special great-nephew Rex Johnson and wife, Cindy and family; a sister, Pat Moore; four grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Wayne, Dale, Paul and Rex Johnson and one sister, June Davis.
