Born a twin in 1890 in Benton County,Arkansas to William Michael True (1851-1929) and Celia Belle Allen (1854-1916) Ettie and Lettie were the only daughters, with four older brothers. They had moved to Forestburg in Montague County by 1900 and a few years later moved into Wise County near Greenwood/Cottonwood communities.

Ettie married Walter Cobb in 1910 in Northern Wise County and they raised their family in Briscoe County, South of Quitaque near Flomot, Texas.
