Una Jean Cooper, age 92 of Porter, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at the Sugar Grove Assisted Living Center in Plainfield, Ind.

She was born in Hobart, Ind., on May 19, 1920 to Clarence and Caroline Gradle Haxton, both of whom preceded her in death.

Jean is survived by her children Susan (Joel) Blum of Martinsville, Ind., Carolyn "Tina" (James) Read of Dune Acres, Ind., David (Cheryl) Lobsiger of Chesterton and daughter-in-law Bonnie Lobsiger of Chesterton, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving is her brother David Haxton of Wheatfield and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband Edwin Cooper, her son Robert "Gus" Lobsiger and her sister Shirley Scharbach.

Jean was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and a member of the Esther Circle at the church. In her early days she enjoyed working at the State Park Drug store. She deeply loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be given in Jean's name to Seasons Hospice Palliative Care, 8530 South Emerson Ave., Suite 140, Indianapolis, IN, 46237 and Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, 2300 N. Children's Plz., Chicago, IL, 60614.
