Asaph and Pamelia moved From Hamden, Ohio to [Jackson Township or Spring Grove Township], Linn County, Iowa by covered wagons in 1854 or 5 late fall.

Asaph's wife Pamelia was an invalid, so she was in bed all the way. Their oldest daughter, Cynthia Emeline (Ware) Thorp, her husband Henry and two little children Sarah and Alice came in another wagon and lived across the corner in a log cabin.

Pamelia (Nims) Ware died the first night they were there. She is buried in the little Spring Grove Cemetery about one mile west of there. Lots of snow that winter and there was another person buried there. When spring came, they couldn't tell which grave was hers.

Asaph and Pamelia Ware's daughter Mary May later married Ezra Kidder, who fought in the Civil War and never got back. They had one daughter, Callie Kidder Nietert, who married Thomas Nietert.
