Ola M. McCarthy, 75, died in Canton-Potsdam Hospital in Potsdam.

She was a graduate of Colton High School.

She married John F. McCarthy Sr. and the couple settled in Winthrop. He died on Oct. 10, 1974.

She was a custodian at St. Lawrence Central School, Brasher Falls, retiring in 1989. An avid sports fan, she especially enjoyed hockey, football and baseball. She also liked traveling.

Surviving were three sons and their wives, John Francis Jr. and Carla, Winthrop; Thomas and Joan, Norfolk; and Dennis and Sharon, Wassaic; a daughter and her husband, Kathleen and Howard Wray, Winthrop; two sisters, Mrs. John (Barbara) Christy, Medina, and Mrs. William (Janice) Hicks, Spencerport; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Three brothers, Wendell, Linton and Lowell Gotham; a sister, Jane Miller, and a grandson died before her.
