Mrs. Erick Braaten Laid To Rest
Mrs. Erick Braaten passed away at the Starbuck Hospital Friday evening, Jan. 13, 1956 at 7:30 o'clock. She was born June 5, 1974 & was 81 years, 5 months & 29 days old at the time of her death & a resident of Blue Mounds township.

Mrs. Braaten has been failing in health for some time & suffered several strokes. She was born in Valdris, Norway & baptized in the Hold Christina faith by Nels Andreas Bjorn. She came to America with her parents, Anders & Ragnild Aaberg, at the age of two years. They settled in Wisconsin for a short time, then moved on to Pope County, which has been her home ever since. She was confirmed by the late Pastor Chr. Pederson at the West Zion church.

She was married to Robert Rookstad; he passed away in 1905. Later she married Erick Braaten, who preceded her in death last July.

She was a faithful member of the West Zion Lutheran church & a charter member of the Ladies Aid, of which she held various offices at different times.

Funeral services were held at West Zion Lutheran Church on Jan. 18, 1856 at 2:00 PM Pastor L. C. Anderson officiating. Two solos were sung by Leo Sylvester, a Norwegian favorite hymn, "Bedre kan jeg ikke fare", and "Behold a Host arrayed in White", Miss Joyce Erickson was organist.

Pallbearers were five nephews, Alfred Aaberg, Noel Aaberg, Leroy Aaberg, Herbert Erickson, Harris Amundson & a close relative, Bernie Reveling.

Survivors of the beloved deceased are Mabel, Elmer & Orville, all living at home, Cora, Mrs. L. J. Aarthun, St. Paul, Roy of Benson & two stepdaughters, Selma & Anna of Fargo, N. D., six grandchildren & three great-grandchildren, also two sisters, Mrs. Julia Erickson of Minneapolis, Alma, Mrs. Carl Amundson of Benson; three brothers, Anton, Nels & Gilman Aaberg, all of Starbuck, MN.

Relatives & friends from Starbuck, Glenwood, St. Paul, Benson, Hancock, Moorhead, Wahpeton, N. D. & Popular, Montana came to attend the funeral.
