Heaven has a new angel. Surrounded by her family, Carrie Martin Hudson, 103, of Lynchburg, went to be with her Lord on Friday, July 13, 2012. She was the wife of the late James Smiley Hudson.

Born Friday, December 11, 1908 in Bedford County, VA, Carrie was a daughter of the late Eula Rice Martin, and the late Oscar Robert Martin

Carrie is survived by two daughters: Doris Ewers, of Goode, and Margie Maddox, and her husband, Nowlin, of Lynchburg, twenty four grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and numerous great great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, and her parents, Carrie was preceded in death by a daughter, Hazel L. Williams, two sons: W. Lewis Hudson, and Harold A. Hudson; six sisters: Mabel, Maisie, Minnie, Lois, and Dessie; and three brothers: Richard, Robert, and Elmer.

Carrie was a very loving person. In her heart she had love for everyone. She was a very hard working lady, who loved to sew and could make just about anything. Everyone in the family has something that she made. Having never learned to drive a car never slowed her down. She was always ready to go when asked to. Spring time was her favorite time of the year because it meant the flowers were blooming and she loved flowers.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg. A celebration of Carrie's life will follow at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Carl Weiser officiating. Interment will follow in Presbyterian Cemetery.
