Edna was born in La Grange, Oct. 23, 1930, to Lawson Gray Porter and Nora Sutton Porter. She was married to Paul H. Abernathy for 56 years, whom preceded her in death.
Edna is survived by her son, Dale Abernathy and wife, Vickie of N. Myrtle Beach, S.C.; daughter, Pamela Abernathy Holland and husband, Clay of Evans, Ga.; four grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, Ashleigh Holland Mills, Karin Abernathy, Angela Holland, and Daniel Holland; and sister, Linda Furr and husband, Raymond of Concord.
Edna was a longtime active member of St. John's Baptist Church in Raleigh where she served in various capacities, including deacon and choir member. She loved all people and enjoyed helping the underprivileged. She was a wonderful southern cook and hostess who enjoyed entertaining family and friends at her home. She was also an avid Duke basketball fan and loved watching them play and cheering them on. Edna loved the Lord and served him her whole life. She loved her family, and everyone she came in contact with. She was an angel on earth and will be greatly missed.

Edna Porter Abernathy, 90, of Concord, formerly of Raleigh, went to her heavenly home Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at Embrace Hospice House in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
A visitation will be held Saturday, July 10, at 2 p.m., at Wilkinson Funeral Home in Concord. The funeral services will be held in the chapel at 3 p.m., with the Rev. James Strickland officiating. A graveside service will be held Sunday, July 11, at 2 p.m., at Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh.

Edna Porter Abernathy, 90, of Concord, formerly of Raleigh, went to her heavenly home Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at Embrace Hospice House in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
A visitation will be held Saturday, July 10, at 2 p.m., at Wilkinson Funeral Home in Concord. The funeral services will be held in the chapel at 3 p.m., with the Rev. James Strickland officiating. A graveside service will be held Sunday, July 11, at 2 p.m., at Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh.
Edna was born in La Grange, Oct. 23, 1930, to Lawson Gray Porter and Nora Sutton Porter. She was married to Paul H. Abernathy for 56 years, whom preceded her in death.
Edna is survived by her son, Dale Abernathy and wife, Vickie of N. Myrtle Beach, S.C.; daughter, Pamela Abernathy Holland and husband, Clay of Evans, Ga.; four grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, Ashleigh Holland Mills, Karin Abernathy, Angela Holland, and Daniel Holland; and sister, Linda Furr and husband, Raymond of Concord.
Edna was a longtime active member of St. John's Baptist Church in Raleigh where she served in various capacities, including deacon and choir member. She loved all people and enjoyed helping the underprivileged. She was a wonderful southern cook and hostess who enjoyed entertaining family and friends at her home. She was also an avid Duke basketball fan and loved watching them play and cheering them on. Edna loved the Lord and served him her whole life. She loved her family, and everyone she came in contact with. She was an angel on earth and will be greatly missed.
