OCEANA HERALD-JOURNAL JUNE 29, 1995:
VINCENT NEAR - Vincent "Bud" Near, 72, of New Era, passed away Sunday, June 25, 1995 at his home. He was born Dec. 13, 1822 in Shelby Township, the son of Clayton and Arbutus Amstutz Near. He was married to the former Rose Marie Hale Dec. 29, 1950 in Ludington. Mr. Near was a World War II veteran. He was a life-long resident of Shelby Township. Mr. Near was a farmer and rural mail carrier before his retirement. Survivors are his wife Rose; son Scott (Brigit) Near of Shelby; three daughters, Joyce (Denny) Moehlman of Whitehall, Marilyn (James) Pawlowski of Muskegon and Sandy (Rod) Schultz of New Era; sister Amy (Charles) Josephson of Muskegon and seven grand children. Funeral services scheduled for Wednesday, June 28 at 1 p.m. at Cooper-Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Earnest Cummings officiating. It is suggested that those who wish may consider Hospice as a memorial. Interment Mennonite Cemetery.
