WILLIAM BECHTOL

William Forrest Bechtol, age 67, passed away Jan. 20, 2014, in Central, Utah. He was born Oct. 26, 1946, in Cincinnati, to William O. Bechtol and Doris Tumulty Bechtol. He married Eileen Leavitt Bechtol in Las Vegas, Feb. 29, 1976, and every Leap Year Day thereafter was remarried to Eileen for a total of 10 times! Known to most as "Woody," he was raised mostly in Colorado Springs, Colo., where he became involved in the finance business and later became a very successful mortgage banker, owning his own company in Las Vegas. During his mortgage banking career, he became interested in home building, while financing construction loans for homebuilders. He was involved in the building of one home and later was the general contractor for a personal residence. He always had the dream to build just "one more house!" Woody loved boating in his younger years and always enjoyed camping. His favorite travel location was Maui, Hawaii, where he and Eileen visited at least 16 times. While still maintaining their primary residence in Las Vegas, upon Woody's retirement in 2008, they bought a second home in Central, Utah, where they spent some of the best times of their 38 year marriage, and made some of the dearest friends anyone could hope for in their life. He is survived by his wife, Eileen Bechtol; sons, Matthew Curtis Bechtol of Denver, and Brandon Forrest (Ashley Ann) Bechtol of Las Vegas; granddaughter, Natalia Bechtol; and his dog, Chloe, who will be lost without him. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, both at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial following at Palm Valley View Memorial Park.
