ASHLAND, Wis., Nov. 11. - Herman Abel, a resident of Butternut, was killed near Glidden by being struck on the head by a falling tree. The unfortunate man was in the employ of the Glidden Veneer company at the time of his death and was assisting in getting out timber when the accident occurred. He had left one crew of men, who were engaged in felling trees, and was going to where another crew was working. He had nearly reached them when a tree which they were chopping fell, crushing him beneath it. Abel was a young man and unmarried.
