Irene "June" Brown

Born June 24, 1929, in Caldwell, Idaho, died in Brookings, Oregon on January 20, 2014.

While living in Dallas, Oregon, June married Harold Miller in about 1943 and gave birth to their daughter, Louise, in 1948. June and Harold were divorced in 1954, at which time she went to work as a waitress.

In 1960, June and Louise moved to Crescent City, where she continued to work as a waitress, meeting her beloved Raymond Brown, a driver for Mitchell Brothers Trucking. They were married in the Trinity Lutheran church in 1960, where June was a member. Ray went to be with the Lord in 1991.

During their marriage, Ray, an accomplished guitar player, taught June to play the bass guitar. Ray wrote twenty-six gospel songs, and he and June traveled to various churches to share their music, which blessed many people. After Ray's death, June worked at St. Vincent De Paul; worked as a caregiver, a housecleaner, and finally as a sub for Del Norte Schools. Since 1991, she attended Pastor George Wickizer's church in Crescent City, Smith River Assembly of God in Smith River, and finally Crescent City Foursquare church with her daughter. Her final Crescent City residence was in the Kings Valley Trailer Park.

June has resided at SeaView Senior living Memory Care unit in Brookings, OR for the past three and a half years, where both June and Louise received the greatest love and care from the devoted staff.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Nellie May Oelesis, father, Henry Campbell Modrell; brother, Henry Forest Modrell; and two sisters, Leota Perkins and Margaret Holmes.

Over the years, June loved and prayed for her family. She is survived by her daughter, Louise Fugate (husband, Dale); three grandsons, Randy (wife, Sonya); Carey; and Chris; and five great grandchildren: Tylor, Maren, Nicole, Taylor, and Michael. She has many relatives and friends, including her dearest friend, Alice Hager.

June went home to be with her Lord Jesus, leaving many memories of her antics, yodeling, dancing, love for music, and her incredible love and faith in the God who saved her. She wrote, "Bought with the Blood of Jesus, kept by the power of the Holy Spirit, provided for by the Hand of God, and on Calvary the work was all done. Walk in newness of life."
