Mrs. Mamie Brantley Pope, 86, died Tuesday of last week in the Bel Arbor Nursing Home following a long illness. A native of Emanuel County, she had resided in Vidalia 58 years, and was a daughter of the late J. Elijah and Martha Clark Brantley.

She was a charter member of the Old Line Primitive Baptist Church, and the oldest living member.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon of last week from the Old Line Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Manning Temples officiating. Interment was in Pinecrest Cemetery with Murchison Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were: Earnest Moore, Wyman Braddy, Aubrey Braddy, Ken Braddy, Eugene Moore, Paul Yawn.

Survivors include five daughters, Miss Mary Alice Olliff, Vidalia, Mrs. Mae Evelyn Braswell, Donalsonville, Mrs. Sarah Vee Maddox, Macon, Mrs. Helen Kennington, Macon, Mrs. Betty Jane Mayo, Montezuma; one son, Herschel V. Pope, Jr., Savannah; 20 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one step-daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Lovett, Brunswick; two step-sons, Louie G. Pope, Macon, and H. Fay Pope, Vidalia; six half-sisters, Mrs. Dollie Williamson, Mrs. Nannie Armstrong, Mrs. Annie Mae Frost, all of Vidalia, Mrs. Lona Bell Lamb, Kite, Mrs. Ruth Smith, Pooler, Mrs. Oree Dudley, Swainsboro; four half-brothers, Johnny Brantley and Franklin Brantley, both of Vidalia, Ernest Brantley, Savannah, Martin Brantley, Albany.
