Arleen was the wife of George Cook who she married in July of 1963. Her parents were Margaret and Willard Nissen. She attended both high school and college in Coalinga, CA and after her marriage, she and George moved to Fresno where she worked as an accountant. Mr. Cook became a CA state park ranger and this took them to Humboldt Redwoods State Park, Millerton Lake, Cuyamaca Rancho and Hearst Castle. They then went to Big Basin State Park and Empire Mine State Historic Park in Grass Valley.
Mrs. Cook worked as a teacher's aide in Grass Valley. The couple retired to Santa Cruz in 1997 and had resided in Arnold since 1999.
Mrs. Cook was a talented artist who loved to paint in acrylics. She collected antique glass and marbles.
She is survived by her husband George and her children, George Cook Jr. of San Jose; Jill Cook of Arnold. Also survived by sister Carol Brown of Visalia; brother Robert Nissen of Colorado and nephews and nieces.
