Jared Michael Joyce, 8, of the Clark's Valley section of Swords Creek, died July 13 in Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
Born in Richlands, he was a son of Karen Lynn Joyce of the home.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and had just finished second grade at Givens Elementary School. He enjoyed outdoor activities, such as hunting and riding his ATV and many sports.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Estil L. Joyce and great-grandfather, Raymond C. Dye.
Survivors: parents, Karen Lynn Joyce and Les Barnes, both of Swords Creek; grandmother, Charlotte Joyce of Raven; uncle, Larry Wayne Joyce of Peoria, IL; great-grandmother, Dorothy Dye of Doran; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, classmates and friends.
The funeral was conducted July 17 at 2 p.m. in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel in Honaker with Rev. Terry Eversole officiating.
Interment followed in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill.
