Joyce RUSH was born Dec 5, 1849; died Dec. 29, 1904, aged fifty-five years and twenty-four days. Was buried at the Owensburg Cemetery, last Friday Dec 30. Funeral services conducted by Elder Quincy SHORT at the Christian church, Owensburg.

Joice was the youngest daughter of Charles and Serilda GASTENAU, joined the Christian church at White Oak when she was about 16 years of age and was married to Zebedee RUSH February 6, 1868. To this union were born eight children, seven sons, and daughter, of whom five (four sons and the daughter) are still alive.

She was a good, pure Christian wife and mother, and will be sadly missed by the bereft husband and children.

She was from one of the pioneer families of Jackson Township. Only a few remain who were living at the time of her childhood. She was unassuming and of a quiet, gentle disposition, devoting her life to the helpfulness of her family and to all others about her who were in need or distress. She has gone but her life work is not yet ended. Her example should be to us all an incentive to better living and the memory of her Christian life and her desires for the good of all those near and dear to her should find them closer together and to new resolves for that reunion in the land where there are no graves.

May God's blessing rest on those who remain and may they be consoled by the thoughts that if they cannot bring her back they can go to her. J. G. H.
