In researching Ancestry.com Family Trees, a few have Farnum dying on Oct. 25, 1862, variously in Pennsylvania or New York. I couldn't find any concrete evidence of any of that. I think that he may have died on a hospital ship, which could have been in port at Philadelphia or New York. He may have died in Oct. and been buried in Maine in Nov.

Corporal Farnum Haskell was mentioned in the Ken Burns Civil War documentary. He died in Louisiana.
