GEORGIANA W. VINCENT GEORGIANA W. VINCENT ESSEX - Georgiana "Georgie" "Nanny" W. Vincent, 88, of Essex, passed away Sunday, Jan 19, 2014, following a short illness. She joined her sister, Christine, who predeceased her two years ago on the same day. "Nanny" was born on May 31, 1925. Nanny loved so many things in life, but above all she loved her family. She was grandmother and great-grandmother of the year. Her strength, independence and determination allowed her to live a full and wonderful life until the end. For those who knew Nanny, she was special, her kindness and caring ways always endeared her to everyone she met. Her hobbies were gardening, traveling, reading, and spending time with her great-grandchildren. Georgiana married Harold L. Whitcomb and together they had a daughter, Jennifer. Nanny is survived by her daughter, Jennifer and husband, Stephan "John" Griffiths Sr., who she thought the world of; three grandchildren, Stephan "Duffy" Griffiths Jr. and wife, Stacie, Tabitha Rivers and Jeff Sprague, and Kristopher Griffiths and wife, Britany; five great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Morgan, Madalyn Rivers, and their father, Tim Rivers, and Mason and Paige Griffiths. Her great-grandchildren were the sparkle of her eye. She is also survived by two sisters and two brothers, Barbara Verdi, Luella Barbour, Kenneth "Midge" Twombly and wife, Priscilla, and Oliver Twombly; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, four of them that she nurtured over the years, Alan, Julie, Joseph, and Tammy; and goddaughter, Alyson Roach. The family would like to thank the FAHC Baird 4 nurses and her niece, Jill Martin, for the wonderful support and care they provided. A memorial service celebration of her life will be held at the First Congregational Church in Essex Junction on Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Essex Free Library, 1 Browns River Rd., Essex Junction, VT 05452, in memory of Georgiana. - See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/burlingtonfreepress/obituary.aspx?
